What's there to explore during winter in Saudi? (Riyadh - Jeddah)

Saudi is the perfect place to visit in winter, when the wind blows with a cool breeze but most days the sun is still shining in a clear sky. This type of weather makes for the perfect time to take a trip to the corniche and enjoy the orange, yellow and red hues of the sun setting over the gentle waves while you sip on a warm cup of tea! Every city offers different super fun activities, great to experience with family and friends or even solo. Let’s dive into some of what the kingdom has to offer, to help you plan your next winter visit:

Riyadh:

Starting off with the capital, Winter Wonderland festival is sure to catch your interest. A festival launching annually from the end of October to the end of March, where you can enjoy 52 different rides, watch a spectacular firework show, slide around a huge ice-skating arena with penguins, get spooky at the haunted carnival and so much more. The festival tickets are priced from 55 on weekdays to 110 on weekends. Alternatively, if you enjoy more outdoorsy activities, you’ll love Riyadh's rolling sand dunes at Red Sands in the winter. Sandboard over the dips and peaks, and enjoy night-time camping in the desert at the end of the day. Enjoy an African safari experience at Nofa resort. The visit starts with an open-top 4x4 car ride around the park, you’ll then continue to the wildlife center which features zebras, ostriches, cheetahs, gazelles, giraffes and more. The tickets are a 100 per person and tour lasts around 2 hours.

Jeddah:

Named the best amusement park in the kingdom, Al Shallal theme park is 60,000 square meters of pure fun! Visit with friends or family, or spend a fun girl’s night out on their ladies-only Wednesdays. It includes an ice-skating rink, a huge roller coaster, bowling alley, zipline and boat rides and so much more. It also holds a variety of top restaurants and cafés, so you’ll find everything you need for a day use. A 75-riyal wristband bought on arrival lets you take almost all the rides. For more sight-seeing opportunities try the fantastic Fakieh Aquarium, featuring sea lion and dolphin shows and don’t forget to grab a souvenir from the gift shop. Take a group cable car tour among the clouds around the beautifully green Sarawat Mountains, and enjoy a peaceful ride away from the noise. For some excitement, take on an escape room challenge at Novus.
